What Devices can be Used with Ignitia?

Blog---devices

With so many devices available to use in today’s world, it is important to know which devices will work best for your student’s online schooling. Ignitia is compatible with most computer systems, tablets, and smartphones. However, not all devices will work as well as others.

Computers

Ignitia will work on nearly all computer systems that can run Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari, although Chrome and Firefox are the recommended browsers. This includes Windows computers and laptops, iMacs, MacBooks, and Chromebooks. Desktop and laptop computers are the recommended devices because Ignitia, the online curriculum used by most Enlightium students, will operate best on these devices.

Device: Windows laptop or desktop

Does it work well with Ignitia? Windows computers are fully compatible with Ignitia and they support multiple browsers which are also compatible with Ignitia. They should also be able to run other software Enlightium students use, such as Zoom.

Can students use it? Yes.

Device: iMac or MacBook

Does it work well with Ignitia? iMacs and MacBooks both use the Safari browser which is compatible with Ignitia. They should also be able to run other software Enlightium students use, such as Zoom.

Can students use it? Yes.

Device: Chromebook

Does it work well with Ignitia? Chromebooks use the Chrome browser which is compatible with Ignitia.

Should students use it? Chromebooks are fully compatible with Ignitia but are not always compatible with other applications. Using a Chromebook will work for completing assignments in Ignitia, but there are times when a computer that supports other browsers is needed for certain applications.

Tablets

Most mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, support browsers that can run Ignitia. However, tablets currently are not fully compatible with Ignitia, and users may experience some issues that they would not experience on computers or laptops. There are many kinds of tablets, and most of them will offer similar support when running Ignitia. In addition, some tablets are unable to download certain pieces of software that are necessary for work at Enlightium.

In general, tablets and smartphones can be used for students to learn in Ignitia, but not to submit projects or take quizzes or tests.

Device: iPad

Does it work well with Ignitia? iPads use the Safari browser which is compatible with Ignitia. However, iPads are not fully compatible with Ignitia, and users may experience some issues if using an iPad.

Should students use it? Students should only use these devices if they do not have access to a computer or a laptop.

Device: Android tablet (such as the Amazon Fire HD or Samsung Galaxy Tab)

Does it work well with Ignitia? Using Ignitia with an Android tablet will work, but like other mobile devices, Android tablets are not fully compatible with Ignitia and may not work as well as a computer or laptop.

Should students use it? Students should only use these devices if they do not have access to a computer or a laptop.

Smartphones

Smartphones can also be used with Ignitia, but are not currently fully compatible with Ignitia. Users may experience some issues if trying to use Ignitia on a smartphone. Also, with a smaller screen, not all content can be easily viewed.

In general, tablets and smartphones can be used for students to learn in Ignitia, but not to submit projects or take quizzes or tests.

Device: iPhone

Does it work well with Ignitia? iPhones use a browser that is supported by Ignitia, and they will usually work with Ignitia but not as well as a computer or laptop.

Should students use it? Students should only use these devices if they do not have access to a computer or laptop.

Device: Android phone

Does it work well with Ignitia? Like iPhones, Android phones use browsers that are compatible with Ignitia, but they are not fully compatible with Ignitia. Some content may not be displayed correctly.

Should students use it? Students should only use these devices if they do not have access to a computer or laptop.

Other

Device: Gaming console (Such as Xbox, PlayStation)

Does it work well with Ignitia? Gaming consoles may be compatible with Ignitia, but they are by far the least preferable device to use Ignitia with. Reasons for this can include that inputting text may take a long time or because there may be temptation to play video games instead of learning.

Should students use it? No. Video game consoles are not ideal for accessing Ignitia.

Device: Reading device (such as Amazon Kindle or Nook)

Does it work well with Ignitia? Reading devices may not work because they may not use browsers that are compatible with Ignitia.

Should students use it? Students should not use reading devices to do school work in Ignitia.
